How to Place Your Order

What happens after my order is placed?

Orders with New Perkie Prints:

  1. Photo Selection - Our photo selection specialists will review the photo uploaded with your order. If it looks great for our artists to work with, your order will head to the art queue. If our photo selection specialists have any concerns or questions about the photo you uploaded they’ll reach out to you to help you select a new photo or get your sign-off to proceed with artwork creation.
  2. Perkie Print Creation - Once your photos are selected, your order will be matched to one of our talented artists who will bring it to life. They’ll consider what adjustments your specific photo might need in order to have your pet looking their best!
  3. Perkie Print Preview Delivery & Sign-off - Once your artist has finished your custom portrait, they’ll send you an email with a preview of your Perkie Print attached. If you wish to make any final tweaks before we print, your artist will be happy to help.
  4. Production - Once you sign off on your Perkie Print Previews, your order will move to the final stage, production. Each item in your order will be individually printed with care.
  5. Shipping - Your items will be packaged and shipped!


Orders with Existing Perkie Prints:

  1. We’ll send you an email with an attachment of the Perkie Print you’d like to reuse to confirm we have the right one.
  2. Production - Each item in your order will be individually printed with care.
  3. Shipping - Your items will be packaged and shipped!

Do I need to reply to the emails I receive from Perkie Prints?

Yes! Communication via email is crucial. Quick replies mean your order will move along quickly.

What if I can’t find my previous order number?

We are happy to help you look up the details of your previous order. If you don’t have the number, please provide the email associated with your order instead.

Can I shop products without a New Custom Pet Portrait or Existing Pet Portrait?

All of our Ready-Made Items are available to shop without any custom artwork required.

All of our personalized products require artwork.

If you are looking for artwork outside of a pet portrait, please contact us as we are designers and are more than willing to help you with your vision.

How do I order different portraits of the same pet?

If you’d like to get different poses or expressions of one pet, please add a numeric value after your pet’s name so we know it’s the same model for multiple portraits.

For example, enter “Miley 1” for your pet’s name and upload your first photo (photo of Miley smiling). Then hit “Add another new pet”. Enter “Miley 2” for your pet’s name and upload your second photo (photo of Miley sleeping).

A Perkie Print is our signature style monochromatic high-quality digital custom pet portrait hand-crafted by an artist from a personal photo. The transformation process combines traditional artistry skills and digital tools to celebrate the true likeness of your pet by enhancing the features that make them unique.

Can you make Perkie Prints of Humans?

Yes! We have done Perkie Prints of many sentimental items including navy ships, airplanes, plants, and toys. If it's meaningful to you, we can help you create a beautiful keepsake!

Can I make changes to my Existing Pet Portrait?

We are happy to include minor adjustments to your existing Perkie Print as requested. Please leave a comment with your order and we’ll be in touch with the next steps.

Can I combine new and existing pet portraits?

Yes! 

Step 1: Add the pet photo you would like for your New Perkie Print to your Personalized Products.

Step 2: Build Your Cart With all your products. They More you buy, the more you save.

Step3: :Leave a Note at checkout saying what products you would like us to add an existing artwork to, as well as your previous order number.

What is the Art Queue?

Once the photo selection consultation is complete, we’ll transfer the chosen photo over to the art queue where it will be assigned to one of our talented artists. Then, you’ll receive an email with your Perkie Print Preview delivery date when your artist will have your completed artwork ready for your review!

Can you add something to my pet’s photo?

Please email. us, and let is know the details of your special request.

Can you make a New Custom Pet Portrait of subjects other than animals?

Perkie Print Previews & Redos

Can I see a preview before I purchase?

Everything we create is 100% custom-made, so unfortunately we do not offer previews before purchasing. Once your order is placed, you will be provided a complimentary photo consultation, assigned a designated artist, and receive Perkie Print Previews of your custom artwork before we print your products.

Do I receive a proof or print preview before my order is printed?

Yes! You'll receive a print preview via email to ensure your satisfaction with your custom artwork before we print your products.

Are artist revisions included with my purchase?

Yes! Once you receive your Perkie Print Preview if there is something you’d like adjusted, just reply back to the email our artist sent. They’ll take a look at your request and get back to you with an updated version!

Please note that not all revision requests are guaranteed. Our team will do their best to achieve the look you're going for, but artists cannot guarantee the improvement of features that are naturally inherent to the original photo. Their job is to enhance what is already present in your photo, so if your pet is frowning in the original photo they will still be frowning in the Perkie Print version.

What is a redo fee?

Let’s face it—social media, AI, and instant online shopping have set some high, sometimes unrealistic expectations! With Amazon shipping, same-day everything, and the detachment of screens, it can be easy to forget that each interaction is human-to-human, especially for small businesses. At Perkie Prints, we cherish the connection we share with each customer. It’s what keeps our team of three here going, day in and day out.

With every Perkie Print, we approach each portrait as a work of art, hand-crafted to capture your pet’s unique essence. During this process, we offer revisions, which are minor adjustments or tweaks to the existing artwork. Think of these like asking an artist to adjust a color or add a finishing touch, not to start the painting from scratch! Revisions can include changes like:

  • Adjusting the scale of the image or repositioning pets
  • Tweaking colors or tones for optimal presentation
  • Minor adjustments to align with your vision

If you need a change that requires starting over or switching to a new photo, we offer a redo fee. This fee reflects the time, skill, and care that go into creating each new piece from scratch.

How do I avoid a redo fee?

We believe in transparency, which is why we offer a complimentary photo consultation to review the image you’d like to use before our artist starts working. This way, you’ll know exactly what we can and can’t achieve with the chosen photo. To avoid any additional fees, please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions about the photo you’re considering before artwork begins. We’re happy to replace or update your photo choice at no cost during this consultation stage.

What We Consider in Our Photo Review Process:

  • Expression: If there’s a specific look you’d like (e.g., pet smiling or playful), please let us know. Once we start, the chosen expression will be reflected in the final portrait.
  • Pose & Positioning: The orientation of your pet matters. If your pet is in profile or looking over their shoulder, this will appear in the artwork. We can't alter the direction or pose, so be sure you love what you see in your selected photo.
  • Removal Requests: If you'd like us to remove a specific item, like a harness or background, please inform us upfront so we can factor this in as we start.

At Perkie Prints, every portrait is a handcrafted work of art, thoughtfully created by a real artist who pours time and care into each piece. We focus on capturing your pet’s unique character in a one-of-a-kind portrait. By communicating preferences in advance, you can ensure your artwork meets your expectations—and avoid any additional redo fees.

Can I switch the photo after I receive my Perkie Print Preview?

Every Perkie Print is created 100% custom for you by one of our artists, so you can’t switch to a new photo after your artist has completed your Perkie Print Preview without a $15 redo fee. That is because your artist will start from a brand new photo and complete a second custom piece of art.

If you aren’t totally satisfied with your Perkie Print we have 3 options:

  • Unlimited minor revisions to your Perkie Print for free! 
  • Redo Pet Artwork fee for your artist to start from scratch with a new photo
  • If you’d no longer like the physical items in your order, we will give you a full refund for the items you would like to cancel.

Photo Selection

What happens if I don’t upload a photo?

Our team will reach out to you via email to collect a photo for our artists to work with. You can email as many photos as you like for us to review and we’ll help you choose the best one.

What happens if my photo evaluation is good?

Our photo selection specialist will send you an email notifying you that your order will move to the art queue and your artist will begin creating your custom piece.

What happens if my photo evaluation is bad?

Our photo selection specialist will send you an email with the results of your free consultation to explain what isn’t a great fit about your photo. Then, they’ll ask if you would like to try switching to a new photo to get better results or if you are ok to move forward with your photo as-is, knowing that the artist can’t guarantee a correction.

Is my photo good enough to use?

Don’t sweat it if you aren’t sure which photo will work best because we include a free photo consultation with every New Pet Portrait Commission! You’ll receive an email from your photo selection specialist with your photo evaluation results within 24 business hours of placing your order. 

Please note! It is important for you to keep in mind that if we are unable to contact you and the photo you provided does not meet the required quality, or if you decline to provide a new photo after being informed that it may not result in the best quality artwork, we will not be able to refund your payment after your artist completes your portrait. As such, please ensure you are satisfied with the photo you submit. In case the artwork has already been created, we do offer a discounted redo fee to compensate the artists for their time and effort.

Will the quality of my image affect the final Perkie Print?

Yes! The best way to get a stunning Perkie Print is to start with a high-quality photo. A very blurry photo is like a dull pencil for an artist. When you start an exceptional photo as the foundation for your artist, your pet will truly dazzle and shine.

Once you hit upload our team will let you know if they have any concerns about the quality of your photo and allow you to swap it out before it's passed on to the art queue. If it looks great for our artists to work with, they’ll let you know when your artist should have your Perkie Print ready for you to review!

What makes a good photo?

We review 3 key areas: Resolution, composition, and lighting. Check out our tips to choose a good photo because adorable visuals and helpful info is better than reading 🤣

What if I can’t find a good photo?

We know that sometimes choices are limited and that’s ok! We include photo selection guidance with every New Perkie Print because our photo selection specialists are experts at helping you choose the most promising photo from the options you have.

If you cannot land on a good photo with us, we do have a library of Perkie Pets that are shoppable and an entire Read-Made collection.

Does it matter what is in the background of my photo?

Nope! That’s what we’re here for! Our artists are skilled at removing Uncle Joe, sofas, scenery, best friends, whomever and whatever is distracting from your furbaby 🐶✨

If I can't decide between 2 photos, can I see Perkie Prints of both and then choose?

We understand you want the highest quality and it can be difficult to choose which photo will work best! However, every piece of art we create is 100% custom-made, so unfortunately there is no way for us to provide a “preview” for an alternative photo without our artists taking the time to create it. As a result, we don’t provide Perkie Print Previews without the purchase of a New Perkie Print.

If you are having trouble deciding, don’t worry! Our photo selection specialists can provide their expertise and help you identify which of the photos you have will work best for your needs. Go ahead and upload your top pic, then add a note at checkout that you’d like a review of a second photo. Our photo selection specialists will be in touch shortly after you place your order with the next steps.

Can I get help choosing a photo?

Yes! A complimentary photo consultation is included with the purchase of every New Perkie Print so you don’t have to guess which one will work the best. Our experts have had years of experience evaluating which photos are the most likely to turn into stunning Perkie prints.

Can I email you to see if my photo will work before I place my order?

Of course! We encourage you to email us and ask any questions you may have about your photo before placing your order. It's always better to feel confident in your purchase, and we're happy to help!

Turnaround Times, Shipping & Rush Fees

What is your turnaround time?

Our Turnaround times base soley on the rate at which you respond to our emails. Should you respond quickly, the average turnaround time for Orders with New Perkie Prints: 1-3 days to get your artwork preview. Once you approve your preview, your order moves to production and takes another 1-3 days to get printed and dropped in the mail.

Orders with Existing Perkie Prints or Ready-Made Collection arrive at your doorstop in about 3-7 business days.

How do I speed up my order?

If you need your order fast, add our $15 skip the line fee! This will put your order at the top of the art queue once you’ve selected a photo!

This fee does not affect shipping speeds. Should you want fast shipping, you need to choose your preferred option at checkout.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RUSH!

We can’t rush it without a photo to work with! Once we confirm with you that your photo will work, your order will go to the front of the line!

Email responses are required to complete your order, so turnaround times will extend if we cannot reach you!

Does skipping the line speed up the shipping?

Our rush fee moves your order to the top of our artist’s priority list, but does not affect the shipping speed. If you would like to speed up shipping, please make a shipping selection that meets your needs.

Is shipping speed included in the turnaround time estimate?

The simple answer is yes, the averages below are inclusive of both parts of the process. 

  • Orders with New Pet Portrait Commissions: 1-2 weeks
  • Orders with Existing Pet Portraits: 3-7 business days

Turnaround time is truly unique to every order and determined by the all the following factors: 

  • The response rate to which you reply to our customer care team via email. Please make sure to provide your active email address at checkout.

In addition to

  • the response rate to which approve your Perkie Print preview once your artist delivers it to your inbox. We cannot ship your order until we receive your sign of on the adorable print review.
  • We need your response at both points of the process, so please be sure to 


Definitions: 

Perkie Print Preview Delivery date: After we get your sign of on the photo selection process, you will be given a Perkie Print Preview delivery date. This is the date to which you can expect to see you previews to your inbox to receive your approval before sending your order to production. 

Production Time: Once we receive your approval of the print preview, there is a 1-3 day window to allow our production team to create each template and individually print every item in your order. 

Shipping Speed is determined by what option you choose at checkout. Shipping speed starts once our production team drops your item in the mail during your production window. 

Returns & Refunds

Can I get a refund for a Custom Pet Portrait?

We are happy to offer refunds up until your photo is passed to our artists to create your Perkie Print.

Once your artwork has been created, we no longer offer a full refund because your artist has already put in the labor to create your custom piece.

We understand that sometimes the transformation doesn’t quite hit the mark as you might have hoped. If you aren’t totally satisfied with your Perkie Print after the art has been commissioned, we have 3 options:

  • Unlimited minor revisions to your Perkie Print for free! 
  • Discounted redo fee for your artist to start from scratch with a new photo
  • Refund any physical items in your order

My order was damaged! Please help!

No problem! We are so sorry to hear there are issues with your shipment. Please send us and email a pic of your damaged box and items and we’ll get a new one in the mail for you!
